Initial Research; Vibe


Vibe Magazine.
Genre; Rap/Hip-Hop

Audience; Mainly Female readers, between the ages of 14 and 25. As the audience are young, the parents/carers psychographics would be varied, between Succeeders, Achievers, Traditionalists and Underachievers. Their social values would be Traditionalists and/or Hedonists. The youths social values however, would be Materialists and/or Post-materialists. On the Jicnar scale, the audiences parents/carers is extremely varied; between A and C2, due to the magazine relies on the musical taste, as opposed to wealth.
On the cover, it is obvious that the main sell if Janet Jackson, as she is stood alone on a blank white background. This will attract the audience as the blank background does not draw attention away from the large image, and fans of Janet Jackson will want to read her opinion (Cover story; Janet Jackson Likes To Watch).
This particular issue is the 'First Ever Photo Issue' with limited amount of copies. This will attract the audience, as the limited amount of magazines published means that they would have to buy it quick, before it's sold out.
The cover of the magazine also looks back on the history of Hip-Hop, and includes well known names such as Tupac, Dr Dre and Lil' Kim, possibly widening the target audience, as fans of these may also pick up and read the magazine, even if they are not a fan of Janet Jackson.
The colour scheme of this magazine is also simple; Pink,Blue,Black and White. The contrasting colours brighten up the cover of the magazine, making it stand out on the shelf.
